Chief Executive Approves Dispatching State Militia within Windy City, as Federal Judge Blocks Oregon City Troop Movement.
On Saturday, federal officials announced that the Commander-in-Chief has ordered the dispatch of the state guard to Chicago, while simultaneously a federal judge halted his administration from sending troops to the Oregon city.
Administration Confirms Chicago Forces Move
An official representative for the executive branch revealed that the president had given the go-ahead for using Chicago-area national guard members, citing what she called “persistent disturbances and unrest” that local leaders have been unable to stop.
In Oregon, court official Karin Immergut agreed with the position of local officials that Trump sending federal national guard troops to the city would potentially worsen rather than settle demonstrations.
“This judgment confirms what local citizens already know: the legal system worked, and facts won out,” Oregon’s governor said following the court order was issued. “No rebellion exists in this municipality. The country is not endangered. No flames, no explosives, no loss of life due to public protests.”
Chief Executive Calls Move Needless
The Democratic chief executive, JB Pritzker called the move unjustified and “a staged event – lacking genuine intent to protect public safety.”
Judicial Official Prevents Portland Troop Deployment
Donald Trump has encountered resistance to his strategy of dispatching the military to municipalities with Democratic mayors he calls out of control, after a US district judge halted his team's plan to dispatch the armed forces to the Oregon city.
Trump had stated on 27 September that he would dispatch personnel to the municipality, “authorizing Full Force, if needed”, ignoring requests from local officials and the Oregon's representatives. An alliance of 17 mayors in the area had opposed the deployment.
