FC Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Match at Renovated Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed they will play at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in La Liga over two years following their departure so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees can be present as per the current authorization. When completed, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, a rise from the old capacity. The club said recent additions comprise a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted a public practice inside the stadium in early November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side next month in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches at the Olympic Stadium.
