Homages Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt ready to express about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has passed that I can now put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the film, adding that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to prevent the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A legal directive placed a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of homicide, with a public database listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the killings, public individuals shared varying reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making provocative statements that were met with immediate backlash by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the detractors last week. Talking on his program, Rogan characterized the statements as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by remarking that an adviser should have acted when the decision to speak on the passing was made.
